This money saving flight resource bundle is everything you need for your in-class centers or distance learning Science classroom. Includes 4 digital and printable activities: Properties of air experiments, properties of flight posters (lift, thrust, weight and drag), the Scientific Method using paper airplanes experiments AND the history of flight timeline. 1) Properties of Air Experiment -

Your students will love experimenting with the properties of air. Send your students this experiment choice board, where they will explore experiments that go with each of the 6 properties of air. They will then choose one to perform, while documenting their activities in any way that they choose.

This document contains 7 slides. One choice board (with embedded internal links for switching back and forth between the choice board and the experiment pages) and six experiment pages that outline the purpose, materials and steps for an easy to perform experiment that demonstrate the 6 properties of air. 

2) Properties of Flight Posters -

Build on your students understanding of the properties of flight, with these digital or printable posters set which provide student friendly explanations of the concepts of lift, thrust, weight and drag. Print and laminate for your Science bulletin board, or send to your students for digital use.

3) The Scientific Method Controlled Experiment with Paper Airplanes -

Then it is experiment time! Learn about The Scientific Method while experimenting with paper airplanes. After learning about the steps of conducting a controlled experiment by building understanding of controlled, independent and dependent variables, students will go through an experiment example to help build on their understanding of the steps. They then are lead through the creation of their own experiment using paper airplanes. What will their independent variable be? Size, type of paper, weight, design type, throwing height...etc. Bring it altogether by guiding your students through the use scientific vocabulary to communicate their results. 

4) The History of Flight Timeline -

Wrap it all up with a timeline activity that will allow your students to dive into their curiosity about how the phenomenon of flight began. Students will sort through the 4 website links, in order to independently choose 8 events that they believe are the major contributors to flight as we know it today. Project goals, instructions and success criteria will help guide your students through this task. In order to dig even deeper, students are then asked to reflect on why they chose these events. This activity can be completed digitally (in class Science center or distance learning) or printed on 11x17 size paper.

Hands on learning at it's best. Great for both distance learning and in class Science center activities.
