This is a companion Science Journal to go along with the Sid The Science Kid episode on Irreversible Change. After watching the episode, students would conduct a science experiment to find out what happens to apples when they are heated. This journal involves a Science Experiment where the teacher would use a slow cooker or crock pot to heat the cut up apples. Another bowl of cut up apples would not be exposed to heat. Students would observe what happens to both sets of apples and then would write and draw about the project in their journal. The Science vocabulary words focused on in this lesson are heat, change, observe, and contrast. This is a great back to school Science lesson for fall when doing a unit on apples or autumn. It can be used with students in pre-k, kindergarten, first grade, second grade as well as special education students. I originally used this in a class for kindergarten students with behavioral disabilities (emotional disabilities) so it works with a wide range of students!
