This resource contains everything you need to get your students started safely in your lab or science classroom. Laboratory safety and responsibility are so important for student success. You’ll get documents I’ve used in my classroom for more than 20 years in .pdf format, and several of the documents come in editable versions in .ppt so that you can add your own guidelines, or rewrite statements to better suit the needs of your students.
1: TEACHER'S GUIDE
A complete listing of all the included materials and tested classroom techniques for using them successfully with your students.
2: LAB POLICY document.
This policy sets up exactly how your students will be held accountable and what they should do if they’ve been absent. You’ll get the document in .pdf form, plus an editable version in .ppt so that you can tweak it to represent your own requirements.
3: SAFETY GUIDELINES List
Safety rules that all students should learn and follow to keep them safe, on task, and respectful of their classmates and your precious lab equipment. Guidelines include
how to get started in lab
how to set up
what to do in case of an emergency
using glassware and microscopes
how to perform a dissection
4: LAB SAFETY ACTIVITY for students
Review the Safety Guidelines. Draw a map of the science room. Label the listed items. Identify the safe and unsafe actions of twelve lab students as they are working on different experiences. I’m so pleased to have partnered with Ron Leishman from TPT’s Digital Toonage store to provide you with a fun, engaging, and detailed lab drawing for this part of the activity.
A COMPLETE ANSWER KEY is INCLUDED!!
