This is a rubric I developed early in my career It makes grading lab reports so much easier. Now I'm not a fan of rubrics and don't use them often but this one is a life saver. I have broken the typical lab report into sections each worth a set of points. Each category has criteria that needs to be met. The criteria that I have listed would be the highest level on a tradational rubric. I give them to my students at the start of each lab activity and require them to hand it in when they turn in their lab reports. They are to check off each criteria to make sure they have included it. Points are awarded based on how well they demonstrated that criteria and if it was present. Comments column allows for more direct and personal feedback to help improve work. Grading: each section is worth a set amount of points for example the introduction is worth 15 pts. If you notice there are five criteria or standards which means each is worth 3 points. I have included a section on teamwork to keep track of students in the lab group and to provide feedback on how well they worked together as a team. i used it to even out the grade so that i could make sure each was doing their part. I have several different versions of this form for specific assignments. I will post those as well.
