This is an excellent beginning or review activity. It is especially good for special education students, but also works well for regular education students. It combines the lower level ELA standard of understanding fact vs opinion (which is, itself, a good review before going into observation vs inference) with lab safety rules and scientific method terminology.
Cut and laminate to use repeatedly as small group task carts or whole class sorts or have students individually cut and paste onto construction paper to have a reference resource. You can even incorporate it into interactive notebooks buy gluing the fact and opinion labels as pockets so students can repeatedly practice sorting.
