Description
This packet includes posters to depict the most important safety rules students need to follow in the elementary science lab.
Each rule is on 1 poster with a squiggly border and a solid-colored frame. Each rule is stated in kid-friendly terms (written in a kid-like, yet readable, handwriting font) and illustrated with clip-art on the poster. The safety rules in this packet are as follows:
1) Act responsibly.
2) Wear goggles to protect your eyes.
3) Wear protective clothing when necessary.
4) Don't eat or drink in the lab (unless your teacher tells you to).
5) Waft to smell chemicals.
6) Follow fire safety procedures.
7) Handle animals only with permission and care.
8) Clean up spills and messes (if it's safe to do so).
9) Wash your hands after the investigation.
Obviously, if you're teaching PK-1, you'll need to review each rule in more detail so that students understand what "responsibly" means and what the "fire procedures" are. :) However, I've tried to include relevant cliipart that will help even the youngest students be able to look at the posters and, in an instant, remember the safety rules.
In addition to the rules, I've provided 4 different "title" posters -- some with clipart, and some without -- so that you can effectively title the list if you choose to put these posters on a wall in your classroom.
