Science Lab Safety & Tools unit includes:
A great addition to your science center! Students can sort the real pictures under the correct header card and complete any one of the included printables. Pictures come with and without picture labels. Science tools can be sorted by tools used for safety, tools used to measure, tools used to analyze and tools used to collect data.
During each round, the teacher reads the definition of the tool from the Answer Key and the students try to be the first to “SWAT” the answer and say the correct name of the tool. We always used NEW fly swatters for this game but pointers work just as well. The kids love playing this game!
A student calls out, “I have (science tool), who has (science tool)?” The student who has that tool then calls out the tools on their card. This is a great game that helps students become familiar with the names of the science tools they’ll be using.
A full page contract to review with students. The contract can be sent home for parents to review with their child, sign / date and return to school. A half-sheet version of the “Science Safety Rules” is included for students to sign and place in their science notebooks. It can be used to remind students of the promise they made to follow lab rules throughout the year.
