Lesson Plan: Growing A Seed
Description: The students are going to learn what is in a seed and how a seed grows into a plant. Students will be divided into groups of three or four, making sure there is a mixture of various ages or grade levels in each group of teaching in a multi-grade classroom. Each group will be responsible for growing a lima bean into a small plant. The story of “Johnny Appleseed” will also be read and discussed.

Lesson Plan: Bird Watching
Unit Overview: After setting up a feeding station visible from the classroom, students will observe, identify, and illustrate indigenous birds and participate in activities that will assist them in understanding the basic characteristics of birds. As a class, students will identify and then tally birds feeding and what seed they are eating each time a bird is noticed.
