Lesson Plan: Science Fair Project
Description: Students will be given the opportunity to expand their knowledge of science through the use of a hands-on project. Students will use the scientific method in exploring an area of science that interests them. They will research their topic, conduct experiments, build models, collect data, and prepare a presentation to be displayed on the assigned Science Fair Day. All sources of information will be documented in standardized and accepted formats. Displays will detail their project in a concise and clear manner. Displays may be no wider than 48” wide and may include a bi-fold or tri-fold free-standing backboard. Students will present their findings to the fair judges and be prepared to answer questions about their project. Judges will evaluate the project using the assessment rubric. Multimedia presentations such as PowerPoint presentations, movies, and slideshows are to be encouraged. Data manipulation and charting software such as Excel are also recommended.
