There are three main activities:

Every unit includes several informational articles with comprehension questions. All units include character studies of important and influential people related to the topic. A A great way to connect reading and social studies across the curriculum.
Each unit includes a variety of the activities below for students to show what they know:
*projects, graphs, and flipbooks
*and much more!
All units have 6-12 vocabulary posters with real-life photos. These make awesome bulletin board displays or can be used to introduce the unit. Some teachers use them at the end of the unit to review.
This meets the Georgia Standards of Excellence for 4th Grade Science with bonus units on winter animals and the rainforest.
S4E1: Compare and contrast the physical attributes of stars and planets.
S4E2: Evaluate and explain the motion of the Earth and the moon in relationto the sun as observed from the Earth.
S4E3: Understand and demonstrate the water cycle.
S4E4: Predict Weather and infer weather patterns using weather charts/maps and collected weather data.
a. Explain how weather instruments (thermometer, rain guage, barometer, wind vane, and anemometer) are used in gathering weather data and making forecasts.
b. Interpret data from weather maps to make an informed prediction about tomorrow's weather.
c. Understand and observe types of clouds including cirrus, stratus, and cumulus.
d. Understand difference between weather and climate.
S4P1: Explain about the nature of light and light interacts with objects.
a. Classify items as opaque, transparent, or translucent.
b. Understand difference between reflection and refraction.
S4P2: Understand and explain how sound is produced and changed and how sound and/or light can be used to communicate.
S4P3: Understand relationship between force and motion and simple machines.
S4L1: Understand roles of organisms and the flow of energy within an ecosystem.
a. Describe roles of producers, consumers, and decomposers in a community.
b. Identify types of consumers-herbivores, carnivores, and omnivores, and scavengers.
c. Develop models to illustrate flow of enery through a food web/food chain beginning with sunlight.
d. Describe changes to the flower of energy when plants or animals become scare, extinct, or overabundant within an ecosystem.
