This is a worksheet meant to help kids understand the difference in the length of the waves in the electromagnetic spectrum. The waves are measured in meters using scientific notion.
TEK 8.8C Explore how different wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum
such as light and radio waves are used to gain information about
distances and properties of components in the universe.
Starting at the U.F.O., the student will be given the size of a radioactive wavelength in meters, they will then use the included Electromagnetic Spectrum to help them determine which radiation type most accurately represents the size of the wavelength. Once they have matched the size of the wavelength with the type of radiation (Radio Waves, Microwaves, Infrared, etc…), they will follow the arrow with the correct radiation type to the next asteroid. The students can color in the arrows and asteroids as they complete the worksheet or simply draw a line that follows the correct path. They will continue this until they reach Earth where they will then be able to use their advance technologies to take over the planet.
Optional: For any clue not used, you can have the students work them on the back of the worksheet for bonus points to be used at your leisure. (Missing assignments, test, projects or other types of assessments).
Not all of the asteroids are used (or are they?) in the maze to prevent students from just guessing the route.
An answer key is included to help with grading. You must use the provided EMS Key to find the answers to the worksheet.
