This is a worksheet meant to help kids compare the wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum with object that exist in the world around us.
TEK 8.8C Explore how different wavelengths of the electromagnetic spectrum
such as light and radio waves are used to gain information about
distances and properties of components in the universe.
Starting at the U.F.O., the students will use the images provided and compare them with the images on the included Electromagnetic Spectrum to help them determine the size of the wavelength. Once they have established the size of the wavelength, the student will be able to conclude what type of radiation (Radio Waves, Microwaves, Infrared, etc…) corresponds to the image provided. They will look at each image and when they have their answer, they will follow the arrow with the correct radiation type to the next asteroid. The students can color in the arrows and asteroids as they complete the worksheet or simply draw a line that follows the correct path. They will continue this until they reach Earth where they will then be able to use their advance technologies to take over the planet.
Optional: For any clue not used, you can have the students work them on the back of the worksheet for bonus points to be used at your leisure. (Missing assignments, test, projects or other types of assessments).
Not all of the asteroids are used (or are they?) in the maze to prevent students from just guessing the route.
An answer key is included to help with grading. You must use the provided EMS Key to find the answers to the worksheet.
Previews are available so that you can see what the worksheet looks like to make sure it is a product you would like to use and enjoy.
