NOTE: The preview file are the PowerPoint directions to assemble to project booklet. You are going to want to download the preview to use with your lesson. The slides are saved as a presentation so that you can alter the specifc directions to meet your needs.
This is a fun research or final project that can be done after a significant unit on biology. The cover specifies ecosystems, cells, kingdoms, and taxonomy, but that can be easily altered before copying by simply taping a white square of copy paper over any parts you do not want to include.
Students follow the directions on the PowerPoint presentation to assemble the four sheets of double-sided copies into an alphabet booklet. The objective is to find a vocabulary word (pretaught or otherwise) for every letter of the alphabet. They write the word, explain what it means, and draw or print out a small illustration to glue onto the page. Note: I tell them to explain what it means, not "define it," as that discourges simple copying from textual resources.
Note: The pdf is 8 pages long and comes with simple instructions for copying onto 4 pages front and back. It must be copied onto double-sided pages for the PowerPoint assembly instructions to work. (All you need to do is print it single-sided and feed it into a copy machine set to print double-sided copies from single-sided originals.)
