Are you looking for a way to promote higher order thinking
while teaching important content? This PowerPoint could be the answer!!
This PowerPoint has two weeks of daily questions related to the science topic of changes in matter. There are 10 total questions, plus an answer key. Each day, students are presented with a question to cause them to think more deeply about their science content.
On Mondays, students will answer a question focusing on "understanding".
On Tuesdays, students will answer a question focusing on "applying" their knowledge.
On Wednesday, students will answer a question that requires them to "analyze" some information about the topic.
On Thursdays, students will evaluate something related to the topic.
On Fridays, students will create something related to the topic.
These questions are designed to be a quick hook at the beginning of your lesson; they would make great bell work especially if you are in a departmentalized setting. Students could have a few minutes to write their responses; then they might do a partner share or participate in a whole group discussion at the beginning of each class session.
I am very excited about using this tool in my classroom, and I hope you are, too!! Please let me know if you have any questions or if you have specific topics that you would like to see featured in future presentations. I will be adding many more of these soon, so please follow my store for future notifications.
