This product is a RAFT activity to assess students' knowledge on cell organelles. It is a great way to differentiate your assessment! It is a RAFT activity that was created along with fellow classmates.
RAFT: Role, Audience, Format, Topic.
The students are asked to take the Role of a cell organelle (nucleus, mitochondria, etc). They are then asked to write to a specific Audience (another cell organelle, a teacher, a student). They are then asked to pick a Format for their writing (a list, an essay, a letter, a comic, etc). Finally, students select a Topic (the organelles function in the cell, the condition of the organelle under stress, etc.)
This is a great way to differentiate - it allows students to select their cell organelle based on interest. Some formats and topics are more difficult than others, making it possible to also differentiate this assignment by learner readiness!
