Product Description
Topics: Invasive Species, Endemic Species, Galapagos Islands, Biodiversity Hotspots

"Raining Rat Poison in the Galapagos Islands" is a short reading activity with 9 discussion questions to follow. The download is 3 pages - the first being a teacher guide that includes links to online articles that I used to write this article. The last pages are the reading assignment for the students. The vocabulary used (endemic, invasive, biodiversity hotspot) is geared towards high school level, but the writing style in the article would also be appropriate for most middle school readers.

In my classroom, I use a lot of real-world scenarios to demonstrate the ecological concepts that we cover. It is my goal to create many more of these reading assignments (written by me) as well as follow up power points with photos and discussion points for the class as well. I love using these in my own classroom, so if you like this assignment, please check back as this is hopefully just the first of many to come, as I edit them for uploading!
