This Science Review Activity Station helps students review information about identifying atoms based on their number of protons and understanding how valence electrons affect reactivity. This activity is meant to quickly and thoroughly review previously taught material. This activity station is easy to set up, and perfect for intervention, spiraling throughout the year, or test prep. This station is targeted for the 8th grade Texas Standard (TEKS) 8.5.B, however is great to use for any state that covers this material.
In the station, students will
1) Complete a cut and paste vocabulary matching activity
2) Complete a science CLOZE activity
3) Complete a short hands-on activity
4) Answer four multiple choice questions
To complete this activity, students must have glue, scissors, and a periodic table of elements (not included).
Vocabulary words covered in this review are: Atomic Number, Energy Level, Valence Electron, Isotope, Reactivity, Net Charge, and Ion
Concepts covered in this review station are identifying that protons determine an element’s identity and valence electrons determine its chemical properties, including reactivity.
