Animals and Energy is a science PowerPoint that reviews the classification of animals. There are 10 sets of two slides. The question and multiple choice answers are on the first slide in each set; and the answer is highlighted with a picture to help students retain the information on the second slide.
I used similar presentations to review before testing last school year, and students were very enthusiastic. The first day we discussed the slides and shared information. The following two days we reviewed the slides more quickly.
The questions emphasize vocabulary that is important for students to understand including herbivore, omnivore, carnivore, consumers, and producers. The PowerPoint reviews concepts based on Tennessee fifth grade science standards (i.e. SPI 0507.3.2 Compare how plants and animals obtain energy), but could be used in grades 3 – 6 to introduce or review these concepts.
A ten question quiz is also available in my store. The quiz questions mirror the PowerPoint slides and could be used as a pretest and/or posttest. (My students are always more attentive when they know there is an assessment!)
