Want a fun and tasty way to teach the metric system and laboratory skills? I have five no-bake recipes that use science equipment such as beakers, graduated cylinders, triple-beam balances, and hot plates. The recipes use metric units and students will measure the ingredients by volume or mass. Each recipe takes from 60 – 90 minutes (including clean-up time).
Included this product are an introductory page, laboratory safety guidelines, the recipes in original standard units to assist with planning, and five recipes:
No Bake Cookies
Peanut Butter Cups
Flavored Popcorn Balls
Crispy Cereal Treats
People Puppy Chow
I have used these recipes with 6th – 8th graders in an after-school science club. They were a huge hit- the maximum number of students signed up each time! I hope you enjoy using these recipes to reinforce science skills and blend them with the real-life application of cooking.
