This product is composed of 11 science lesson plans which cover 4-5 weeks of lessons, as well as an overall quick-at-a-glance unit plan. This unit plan introduces students to the study of science and helps students begin to develop a scientific perspective. Students will become familiar with the tools, which a scientist employs, and with some of he career opportunities available. Students will develop a strong knowledge base of investigation skills which will enable them to be able to properly explore objects in amazing detail.
The central issue/theme, which connects the unit to the curriculum content, is the idea of applying various skills to the study of cells. Students will develop their knowledge of organisms by focusing on the structure and function of cells in plants and animals. This unit will explore how to use microscopes, learn about the cell theory, cell structure, plant and animal cells, cellular reproduction, cell membranes, and unicellular and multicellular organisms, while understanding these skills, technologies, and information in relation to scientific inquiry.
Each lesson within this unit plan consists of a detailed lesson plan, handouts, notes, marking guides, exit cards, rubrics etc.
