This resource can be used in multiple ways, depending on the type of class that you have, the style that you run your classroom, and the way that you introduce content.
I used this resource at the beginning of every unit, every one to two weeks. I would have a PowerPoint with each vocabulary word, the definition, and a picture that illustrated the definition. The students copy the term and definition. On their own, they must come up with a picture that represents the term, whether it is a diagram, model, or even a silly way to remember the term. The last step requires the student to either write the term in their own sentence or give an example of the term. This resource offers a printable for the use of the term in a sentence OR an example for the term. You can print out the one that best suits your class or the content you are teaching for that unit.
I loved grading these. It’s an easy grade for the students but also requires some thought on their process. And, it is a great way to assess what they understood that day in class. This activity also includes the highest level of the learning domains: creating (a sentence or an example and a way to remember the term through a picture).
This product includes a "How to Use This Resource" page, and a page describing effective ways to teach vocabulary.
