In Science and plants unit children are given the opportunity to do cross curricular work and apply their mathematical skills to their science. Children will interpret graphs about the height of sunflowers grown by a class. They answer questions that help them to practice the vocabulary of how many more, how many less, how many altogether, what is the total of,... The children then move on to using the data given to make conclusions e.g about the child who grew the shortest plant. The children are encouraged to give reasons whilst teachers make assessments of their learning about plants.
