Oil Spills Lesson Plan has students build habitats using rocks, feathers, pieces of fur, and plastic animals. Oil is then "spilled" on the habitat, and students have to try to clean it up. They are provided with a variety of materials and are directed to test the effectiveness of each.
Follow-up discussion will help lead to a better understanding of the risks to the environment caused by energy use.
