One of my cross-curricular articles, this one, about science and the salem witch trials, turned out to be very interesting. Teachers try to explain to students how this could have happened, and possible have talked about some of the scientific explanations for the phenomenon such as ergot poisoning, jimson weed poisoning, lyme disease, encephalitis, etc. as well as the other possible causes such as mass hysteria, religious extremism, etc. This article touches upon all of these and more. It would be appropriate for science classes like Biology and Health, English classes reading The Crucible, World History classes, etc. There are questions at the end of the article with a key.
