Premade lesson all you need to do is supply a relevant article and this self guided sheet will cover the rest.
On this two page sheet you will find a graphic organizer that outlines the article read then on the second sheet students will be writing a summary and self reflection paragraph each.
Students will create an outline from the article by answering who, what, when, where, why, how, and the topic.
On the back of the paper (or the second sheet)
Students will write a one paragraph summary about the article
They will then write a self reflection paragraph on their views on the article.
They will also draw and label a diagram/picture that supports what they read in the article.
This is a great way that I tie current science articles into my middle school science classroom.
After doing it on a regular basis It also makes for a really good substitute teacher lesson, since the class already knows the expectations.
I have also used it as homework or webquests where students are to find an article to use with the sheet. Can also be used for research.
Very versatile sheet
Plate Tectonics, chemistry, energy, fossils, pollution, conservation, biology, evolution, infections disease, transfer of energy, animal adaptations, and so many more.
