Science in the News

How I use this product: My students complete a weekly science in the news activity which incorporates literacy in the science classroom. This is a great activity to ensure you are covering all of your 21st Century Skills.

1. Students choose a science article wither from a newspaper or digital source. I tell them it could be from any article and use they examples of sports (velocity, speed, anatomy) weather (meteorology) recipes (food science, enzymes, macromolecules) and so on….
2. They complete the front as a brain storm
3. The back they use the ACES formula to answer the prompt “How does your article relate to science?” The ACES formula is being used in the English classroom to help with free response test questions.

I like this format since I can use the same format every week. My high school students complete one every weekend and it is due on Monday.
