Product Description
This is primarily an assessment for the Next Generation Science Standard: 5.LS1.2- I can build a model to show the movement of matter among plants, animals, decomposers, and the environment.
Student Goal for this mini project: Students will be expected to create a diagram of an ecosystem to show interdependent relationships amongst biotic and abiotic factors. In order to do this, students will be expected to choose an ecosystem to research basic facts about and use their skills to find 3 abiotic factors, 3 producers, 3 herbivores, and 3 omnivores and/or carnivores that exist in this ecosystem.
Directions:
1. Start by choosing an ecosystem from the 5 pictures and descriptions provided to you.
2. Research the ecosystem using an iPad and/or books, filling in the research page as you go. Be sure to provide your sources.
3.Compare and contrast 2 abiotic and/or biotic factors that you have researched.
4.Use all of your research to create a diagram to show your understanding of your science standard.
