Product Description
In this lab, students will be responsible for going through each step of the scientific method. During the lab, they will collect information on coins: mass and volume, then calculate densities. They even have to perform the experiment three times to ensure data accuracy. Further, follow-up questions and puzzles help to reinforce concepts behind the scientific method, variables, mass, volume, and density. Colorful graphics are included to help to visualize the steps and variables of the Scientific Method and its variables.

To perform this lab, you will need:
• 10 coins of each: pennies, nickels, dimes, and quarters, although 30 is ideal (3 trials of 10)
• Graduated Cylinder with 1 mL increments
• 3-Beam Balance
• 600 mL Water (50 mL * 4 coins * 3 trials)

Note: densities measured in this lab disagree with calculated volumes using coin physical dimensions, but should still yield the correct order of coin density.
