When I was teaching the scientific method this past spring, my students became very overwhelmed at taking data during their project and analyzing it to draw conclusions. I created this brief packet to focus on those skills.
In this packet you read a short story about Anna's cookie sales, which provides quantity of cookies sold for 6 cookie varieties. The packet walks you though making a tally chart, bar graph and line graph with the data. The packet then introduces the concept of an outlier and how it effects data, and ends with some questions to summarize the concepts.
It really helped my students understand these concepts and apply them to bigger science projects!
