Students LOVE designing and conducting experiments!
This NO prep experiment packet guides students as they walk through all the steps in the scientific method. Easily assess student knowledge of terms such as independent variable, dependent variable, control, and hypothesis.
Students will create their own guiding question and hypothesis, then conduct their experiment, analyze the data, and report the results. When all experiments are finished, they will complete the included peer review on another group’s project.
This unit will cover approximately twelve 45-minute classes. Students can work in groups of 2-4.
*Day 1 Mythbusters video and guide
*Day 2 Students choose their experiment and teacher can record on the provided chart.
*Day 3 and 4 Brainstorming the experiment and creating the questions. This guide will help scaffold them along the way. They will create the materials list and give responsibilities to all members.
*Day 5 and 6 EXPERIMENTING!
*Day 7 and 8 students can fill out the lab report paper by hand or a Digital copy can be filled out on a computer.
*Day 9 peer reviews using the included document
*Day 10 and on- Create presentation and display- students can use the given guidelines to create a Powerpoint, then present to the class.
This document can be used by teachers, student teachers, or substitute teachers. Access to digital documents are included so students can use technology to complete their project.
