These three experiments can be used to teach students the process of the scientific method. In my classroom, I start by modeling the "height of release" lab, then the students complete the "mass" lab, and finally, they complete the "length of string" performance assessment.

This is a great set of labs to teach independent variable vs. control as well as making and organizing data tables, graphing, and drawing conclusions from the data collected.
