Fabulous for working on variables, controls, constants, and hypothesis writing!
These task cards challenge your students to practice identifying independent and dependent variables along with control groups and constants. Students also get the all-important practice of hypothesis writing.
These cards are great year-round: I find that my 9th-grade students truly benefit from the continued practice of identifying the crucial pieces in designing an experiment.
This full color 36 card set is arranged 4 to a page. All 36 cards have an engaging inquiry question and a prompt. There is clip art on each card to help students place context on the question statement.
Appropriate for any middle school or lower grade high school class - probably best suited for grades 7 - 10, depending on your student's ability level.
Perfect for extra practice, review, a quick bell-ringer, or for differentiation at a station. I've also used them in game-type settings with the whole class in groups and as an informal formative assessment. Gets my students away from worksheets that can get monotonous or be overwhelming and "chunks" out the work. The questions are also a great way to get academic discourse going with small groups - give them a task card and ask them to come up with the answer and explain to the class.
Included are two answer sheets - one with all answers on the front of one page and another that gives students a bit more room to write but requires two pages (or copies front and back). An answer key is provided.
Also included is one page of "blanks" for you to add your own questions to for the set - print them once in color, laminate them and get years of use out of them!
