Twenty-five years of teaching middle school science has taught me what works and what doesn’t, what kids really learn from and what is a waste of everyone’s time. These activities are fun, simple, cheap, and demonstrate various aspects of the Scientific Method and the skills that scientists of all ages need. Activities may be done as simple demonstrations, small group work, or full-fledged labs. Each activity offers opportunity for students puts the steps of the Scientific Method into practice with written language and can easily be integrated with Common Core English/Language Arts. At the end are 3 reproducible pages that help students hone their skills.
