Description

Practice multiplication of very large numbers using scientific notation and rounding. Data is given for the per capita water usage in a variety of countries around the world, along with the countries' populations. Students calculate each country's annual water usage. Make real-world connections while learning and practicing the use of scientific notation.

This free resource is part of a larger environmental mini-lesson, Scientific Notation and Water Conservation, which includes a mini-lesson on water use and conservation as well as calculations using both very large and very small numbers.

Other environmental math lessons can be found in the Environmental education custom category in my store.
