This lesson plan has two objectives. The first objective is to write standard numbers in scientific notation and vice versa. The second objective is to use the rules of exponents to multiply and divide numbers in scientific notation.
This lesson plan is for a double-period class (or two classes). It includes an opening activity, minilesson with guided steps through the process, examples, class activities and a worksheet for homework. Answer keys included.
A Web Search activity also is included. However, if technology is not available, the Web Search is also written as an article for students to read and answer questions.
