Description

Get students out of their seats and performing operations in scientific notation with this interactive scavenger hunt. Students will practice multiplying, dividing, adding, and subtracting numbers written in scientific notation. Difficulty ranges from basic to challenging. In several cases, students will need to rewrite the number at the end if it fails to meet the requirements of scientific notation (moving a decimal place and changing an exponent). There are 12 practice problems included in the activity. Students begin in different locations around the room and use their answers to find the next problem they must complete. The scavenger hunt is over when students complete all 12 problems and end where they began.
