We use this quick, 12 problem worksheet during the 1st week of chemistry as we are starting conversions and significant digits. Most students will already be familiar with scientific notation but could use a 15 minute refresher.
On the worksheet, students have to change both TO and FROM scientific notation (without using a calculator). I also have one multiplication & one division problem using sci notation that requires the calculator. I prefer my students use their EXPONENT KEY on their calculator (typically EE or EXP) and this allows me to show them its use.
