When I teach my algebra students about scientific notation, I like for them to know how to convert back and forth from standard notation, I like for them to understand how to use their calculators to properly enter numbers in scientific notation, and I like them to know not to simply copy their calculator screen when their calculator displays a number in scientific notation.
This worksheet focuses on all of these ideas, and it also has practical application problems.
I use this activity within cooperative groups, and I circulate to make sure they are getting the purpose of the questions.
The file includes spiral review problems.
For this worksheet, I expect students to show their work on a separate sheet of paper.
