Combine core science concepts with non-fiction literacy skills, all while your students read about some of the coolest nerds in history! Students read a weekly passage about a famous scientist and complete a short activity each day. These make them ideal for bell work, warm-ups, or even homework. This month includes Mae Jemison, Marie Curie, Charles Darwin, and Jacques Cousteau.

Scientist of the Week resources cover Core Science Principals like graphing, analyzing data, charts, and graphs, asking questions, defining problems, explore science vocabulary, and obtaining, evaluating, and communicating information.

They also utilize Informational Text Skills like citing text evidence, referring back to the text, engaging in argument from evidence, analyzing paragraph structure, determining the meaning of words and phrases, annotating as you read, analyzing quotes, and comparing/contrasting.

Please note, each resource has five activities. All of the skills listed above can not be covered in a single resource. The more weekly resources you use, the more skills coverage you will get.
