Scoot is definitely one of my very favorite whole class games and a great way to let students get up and move! And his Scoot Game Product is really 2 Games for the price of 1!
This game will allow the teacher to teach, practice or reinforce addition sums to 30 and/or subtraction equations with difference under 30. These math skills will help students who need to practice or improve their skills.
This Scoot Game Set provides a 30 card set of addition cards and a 30 card set of subtraction cards, so that you can play just addition equations, just subtraction equations or play a game with both addition and subtraction equations. Just be sure to only have one of each card number if you combine them into one game…you don’t want the students to end up with 2 cards labeled #1.
To play the game, place a Scoot Card on each student’s desk. Provide each student with a recording sheet. The students will stand at their desk, then look at the scoot card on their desk.
The student will solve the math equation on the card. Next, they find the box on their recording sheet that has the same number as the scoot card. They record their answer on their recording sheet .
After a couple of minutes the teacher calls out SCOOT! The students SCOOT to the next desk and repeat until all desks are visited!
You can check the recording sheets in class together or you can collect the recording sheets for assessment.
VARIATION: Place all cards and Student Recording sheets in a basket in your Math Center and have students do as independent activity.
This is a great activity to use as…
* A Whole Group Teacher Directed Activity
* An activity for RTI intervention
* Math Center Activity
* An assessment
* End of Day Filler Activity
