This is a supplemental activity I use for real-life comparisons when I'm teaching To Kill a Mockingbird (but it can be used with any unit covering racism, civil rights, social justice, etc.). It includes an anticipatory activity that is very effective at getting students' attention and making them "step in someone else's shoes." Also included is a nonfiction reading activity (links to article included), questions and answers, and extended research activity. Use with To Kill a Mockingbird or with any unit covering racism, civil rights, injustice.
