You can use these worksheets in a variety of ways. The first eight worksheets are great for building your student’s math vocabulary. You can use the worksheets as they are, or you can utilize them in centers to expand their capability to talk math.
The tiles, on the final few pages, can be used to have students take home, or you can laminate a set or sets for centers use.
Here are some suggestions for using the tiles in centers or in take home activities:
Have students randomly select tiles and add up they worth of all tiles pulled.
Have students create words with the tiles. See who can generate a word with the highest value. (Have students determine this).
Assign monetary worth to tiles (1’s= Pennies, 2’s= Nickels, 3’s= Dimes, etc.). Have students add up their worth.
Have students create their own use for the tiles!
The tiles are meant to be open to use or interpretation. If you come up with some other use, please share in your comments so other teachers may benefit!
