The Scramble for Africa Simulation was created to help students understand the motivations behind European Imperialism in Africa. The simulation contains unique country information for 8 groups. Each group uses their unique information and goals to construct request forms to submit to the teacher. Teams complete dice rolls each round to determine if they can officially submit requests for land. If two groups attempt to claim the same piece of land, conflicts are resolved with rock-paper-scissors games. At the conclusion of the simulation, students complete a reflection form that helps them synthesize the main lessons learned in the simulation.
