This is a one page assignment sheet that outlines a scratchboard assignment with the mark breakdown. it give assignment goals, and the process steps.
It encourages students to tell a story with their imagery, and build contrast. This can be a good art assignment if you don't have a lot of time, but want the students to be focussed. I find that they are very into scratchboard, and usually like working with it. I have bought the thicker scratchboard, and also the thinner stuff that is quite easy to scratch. Both work well, but for higher grades I would buy the thicker scratchboard to work with. I also don't usually use actual scratchboard tools, I usually use exacto knives, or for the thin scratchboard bamboo skewers are the easiest and most cost effective way to supply a whole class of scratching tools.
