I am really excited about this product! If you’re looking for a fun, engaging way to kick off your school year, this is the product for you! It’s a hilarious script for a back-to-school themed news report for up to 21 students in grades 3-4.

This is an excellent and inclusive way for teachers to get a quick peak into their students’ reading levels, review the key elements of a fluent reader and most importantly, build community. Nothing brings a class together like laughter and teamwork!

There are parts in the script for all reading levels in this 18-page script.

The storyline of the script is universal: students are returning to school, excited to share their summer vacation stories and visit with their friends. The staff at the school are just as enthusiastic about the new year ahead! There’s funny commercials, a librarian who loves to use her outdoor voice, a fashion reporter, a crisis in the Kindergarten room when the crayon order doesn’t arrive, and a ready-for-anything fourth grader!

It’s cute and super-funny and I’m sure it will assist in developing that positive and warm learning environment we all want for our students. Most of the characters’ names are gender-neutral, which makes this appropriate for all classroom settings. Please note that some characters such as the Librarian (Mrs. Dewey) and “Grandma” are female characters.

You can easily record this news report to share with students and their families. As an audio recording, it’s much easier to share online without risk to your students’ safety and privacy.

This is how I have recorded these projects in the past:

I used Windows Movie Maker and just added the audio recordings to a cute digital sign/picture that I had made. For your convenience, I’ve included one in the pdf that can be saved as a j-peg and used for your own broadcast. Basically, you’re making a video or slideshow with only one photo and about 15 minutes of audio. After it was completed, I posted it on youtube and that was it!

If, after purchasing this resource, you find it’s not a four-star product for you, please email me so I can try to make it so. I’m happy to help and it takes no time at all. I can usually have the revised file back to you within 24 hours.

Thanks so much for visiting my store!
