Each year my class performs a play on stage, complete with curtains, sound, and lighting. When I run into my former students, even years later, they always say, "Remember when we did the play?" I adapted this script from the novel "11 Birthdays" by Wendy Mass. It was a joy for my class to perform as well as for the audiences who saw it.
This script can also be used for a Reader's Theater if you are not interested in using it as a full production. It has a 24 page script which includes a cast of characters and list of scenes. The number of roles can be adjusted from the 21 speaking parts I required by combining or separating parts. Some roles are gender neutral and can be adjusted depending on the number of boys and girls involved.
Note: We used a Sponge Bob birthday balloon for comedic effect, but it can be any kind of balloon that is used throughout the play.
