Each year my class performs a play on stage complete with curtains, sound, and lighting. It is a highlight of our year and when I run into my former students, even years later, they always say, "Remember when we did the play?" I adapted this script from "Because of Winn-Dixie" by Kate DiCamillo since it has become a student and teacher favorite.
It can also be used for a Reader's Theater if you are not interested in using it as a full production. It includes a 23 page script, as well as a list of characters. The number of roles can be adjusted by combining or separating parts, or having students read two or three minor parts. A few roles are also gender neutral and can be adjusted depending on the number of boys and girls involved.
If after buying the script you would like a version that is editable, you can send me your email address and I will send you a copy in Word.
