This file is to be a companion to the book Sea Dragons by Laura Hirschfield. However, the activities and questions could be adapted to an Under the Sea theme or other stories about sea dragons.
There are 10 pages with great activities for your learners. The first page is a teacher's guide with vocabulary, questions & answers, suggested phonics topics, a list of the activities, and possible writing topics. I have created two Venn Diagrams for compare and contrast: Sea Dragons & Sea Horses and Weedy Sea Dragons & Leafy Sea Dragons. Both concepts are discussed in the book. There are also two word sorts for different levels of difficulty. Both word sorts focus on long vowel digraphs ee and ea. One asks students to find words in the book and write them on the sorting mat. The other provides word cards that can be cut out and sorted or glued on a work mat on a separate page. There is a two-page student sheet with vocabulary and questions for which they can write their answers. Finally, there are two writing pages. One is for primary writers with top, middle, and bottom lines. The other is for older/more experienced writers.
