Discuss positive coping skills for big feelings like anger, stress, worry, fear, and sadness with these fun summer/ocean themed activities! This activity will help students understand that the school counselor is here to help you at school, but it is important to learn skills to help yourself deal with different feelings during the summer. Cut and assemble flipbooks ahead of time or have students cut and assemble themselves. Call on students to take turns reading each page of the flipbook, and discuss the different coping skills for each feeling. Ask students what their favorite coping skills are. Allow them to color the flipbook. Hand out the coloring sheet. Allow students time to color. When they are finished, ask if anyone has used any of these skills before. What emotion were they feeling? How did they feel after using a coping skill? Discuss and enjoy!
