This set of Search and Rescue cards include a mix of 10 area and 10 perimeter questions. There are two sets of cards provided: one set is in black and white. The other set is in gray chevron.
If you would prefer a set with another color/pattern, please contact me and I will be happy to create a set for you!
How to Play:
The cards are ready to print. Print the cards front/back. Once they are printed, fold your page so that a number is displayed on the outside, and a word problem is on the inside.
Disperse the cards around the classroom so that students can easily “Search” for their answers.
Assign students to begin at different cards/locations. Students should carry their math journal with them to record the steps they take to solve each question.
Students will begin by opening their first card, reading, and solving it. They will then look throughout the room to find the answer to their card. They will walk to the card with their answer and continue this process until they have solved all Search and Rescue cards.
If a student, or pair of students, becomes stuck at any time, they should meet you at the “Rescue” table for assistance.
The cards do contain an answer sheet and directions for printing a packet to use at your "Rescue" table.
